Story / Life as a believer in God is not always smooth sailing. It’s definitely a journey that requires trust and faith. I wrote this song at a time where things around me were crumbling - and just like King David cried out to God, my soul was crying out to my heavenly Father. This song is originally written for 5 part harmony.

Story / A couple of years ago, I started working as a part time music therapist at a Depression Recovery clinic in Weimar, California. It was raining one day, skies were gray, a chilly bite in the air - when the thought crossed my mind, “I should write the most depressing song in the world. Depressing love songs are hits!” I started writing the song, thinking about showing love to people in ways that they would receive it - and as the lyrics unfolded, the tune that came out was the complete opposite of my original intent. Instead, a cheesy 70s game show melody appeared! But I have to say, this is one of my personal favorite songs. How could I write about God’s love, which is really, THE “Love that has no Ending,” in a somber and depressed way? So, here it is.

Story / One day, I was playing around with a melody, and what came out was an ode to my part Chinese heritage. You’ll hear a bit of an Asian theme weaved through this song - infused with jazz and gospel flavors. I love the message and hope in this old hymn.

Story / One of my favorite authors, Ellen White, wrote a number of journal entries during her time in Australia. I put her thoughts and Bible verses that she used into this song. It’s reassuring to know that whatever happens in life, God promises to, “never leave us nor forsake us.”

Story / At one point in my life, I became consciously aware of everything I did wrong. I felt like all my past mistakes interfered with my present happiness. I was constantly reminded by myself and other people that I was a great sinner. And I have to admit, at times I sure acted like one! I knew exactly what I was doing - hurting God and injuring myself and others in the process. In so doing, I got to a place where I yearned for peace and to forget the past. God promises us that peace.

Story / A couple of years ago, I heard a story about 3 young women who were held in captivity for at least 10 years. All 3 were saved in a dramatic rescue. It broke my heart to hear their horrific stories and what was done to them. I was reminded of my own personal story where my innocence was stolen as a young child and as a teenager (unbeknownst to my parents.) I could relate to feelings of hopelessness, despair, and wanting to end my life. But, praise God that He came down to save us from this sick, and messed up world. He became shame for us, in order for us to be free and pure again. I thank God for those 3 girls - and for His Love that brings true restoration.

Story / Do you know what your name means? At first, I didn’t. So, I looked it up. And it literally means, “deceiving, stone, husband, sly pig.” I thought, “man that’s rough!” But I was assured of the fact in Revelation where it says that God will give us a NEW NAME. Isn’t that something? Not only does He give us brand new bodies, but even a new name. He thinks of everything. Another line in this song refers to a quote from Ellen White where she said, “Jesus, is music to my ears...” I then put all these thoughts together and out came this song.

Story / For the past 8 years I’ve been traveling with a ministry group called, “Revelation of Hope Ministries.” I get to play music and witness people giving their lives to Jesus. Story / One day, a friend asked me to preach a sermon. I thought, “I’m soooo not a preacher!” But I said yes, and then immediately felt super anxious after that. I only had a couple of days to prepare something and what came out of that time of worry and stress was this appeal song to give our hearts to God. So, I guess something good and beautiful came out of that whole experience. It taught me that when we’re willing, God can use the talents He’s given us for the benefit of others - and bring Him the ultimate glory.
